Reminder for any who can join to stop in at the union for coffee or a bite to eat anytime between 5-6pm. We have a couple things to talk about as we head into 2016 now and for our ongoing formation we’ll be discussing the 1st half of chapter 4 (the social dimension of evangelization). Plan on roughly sections 177-216. A few questions to chew on….
1. To “proclaim the good news to all creation” (Mark 16:15) requires us to “be concrete” and be concerned with the building of a better world. What is your response to those who say that religion is only a private affair and that it exists only to prepare souls for heaven (sections 176-185)?
2. In what ways an we show solidarity with the poor, more than by simply offering “a few sporadic acts of generosity”? How are we allowing ourselves to be evangelized by the poor? How are we directing pastoral care to the poor (sections 186-201)?
3. How is the Church working to remove “structural causes of poverty”? How can our parish (fraternity) participate in this effort (sections 202-208)?
4. How is our local Catholic culture sensitive to the needs of the most vulnerable? How are we building awareness for the plight of the homeless, the addicted, the elderly, the victims of human trafficking, and the unborn? How are we increasing our awareness of the impact of our own live on the environment and the lives of those around us (sections 209-216)?
